Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 390, pseudogene (RN7SL390P) is a human pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA, which is the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[6][1][8]. The functional 7SL RNA is a non-coding RNA that is part of the SRP complex, central to targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane in eukaryotic cells[5][7]. RN7SL390P, however, is non-functional; it does not code for a functional RNA molecule or protein. The majority of 7SL-related sequences in the human genome are pseudogenes generated by the retrotransposition of 7SL RNA, resulting in truncated, non-expressed loci dispersed throughout the genome[8]. There is no evidence that RN7SL390P has a biological function, disease association, or drug interactions. It is not considered a therapeutic target or a functional molecular entity[6][1][8].
