Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 393, pseudogene (RN7SL393P) is a human noncoding RNA pseudogene closely related to the functional 7SL RNA gene, implicated in formation and function of the SRP ribonucleoprotein complex for co-translational protein targeting. The majority of the several hundred 7SL RNA-like sequences in the human genome are classified as pseudogenes—including RN7SL393P—and are not actively transcribed into functional RNA. These pseudogenes are generated by retrotransposition and truncation events, and have varied sequence structures, often missing portions found in the functional gene. They do not encode expressed products and are not involved in canonical biological processes or disease mechanisms. Their existence may contribute to genomic architecture and evolution, but they are not considered functional therapeutic targets, receptors, or relevant drug interaction partners. If you require information on the functional 7SL RNA gene or the signal recognition particle RNA, those have established roles in protein synthesis and certain disease contexts.
