Overview

RN7SL394P encodes a pseudogene derived from the RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic (the non-coding RNA component of the signal recognition particle, or SRP), but does not produce a functional molecule. The parent gene, 7SL RNA, is essential for recognizing signal peptides in newly synthesized proteins and targeting them to the endoplasmic reticulum by the SRP complex; this function is not present in the pseudogene. RN7SL pseudogenes, including RN7SL394P, arise from the reverse transcription and integration of 7SL RNA sequences into the genome; they are typically nonfunctional, may be truncated, and have no known roles as drug targets or in human disease[2][3][5]. In summary, RN7SL394P is a non-functional pseudogene corresponding to 7SL RNA and is not a therapeutic target or functional receptor, enzyme, or transporter[2][5].

Biological functions

Other (pseudogenes themselves do not have a defined molecular or cellular function; however, their parent 7SL RNA gene is involved in protein targeting via the signal recognition particle (SRP)[1][3])
03

Disease associations

Other (no established disease association for this specific pseudogene; parent 7SL RNA may be relevant to cancer cell biology and viral infection, but these do not extend to pseudogenes in general[1])
