Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 403, pseudogene (RN7SL403P) is a **pseudogene locus** in the human genome that represents a non-functional, truncated copy of the 7SL RNA gene[1][4][3][7]. 7SL RNA is a non-coding RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), which plays a central role in protein translocation across the endoplasmic reticulum membrane by halting translation and guiding ribosome–nascent chain complexes to the ER[5][6]. However, as a pseudogene, RN7SL403P does not produce functional RNA or protein product and does not serve any known biological function. It does not have a role as a therapeutic target, disease biomarker, or drug-interacting molecule. The proliferation of 7SL RNA pseudogenes, including RN7SL403P, in the genome is thought to have resulted from the reverse transcription and integration of 7SL RNA sequences, but the majority of these loci, including this one, are **non-coding and non-functional**[3][7][4].
