RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 411, pseudogene (RN7SL411P) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene of the 7SL RNA gene family. Pseudogenes are genetic elements that resemble functional genes but are generally nonfunctional due to mutations, truncations, or lack of regulatory elements required for expression. The functional 7SL RNA is the integral RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), which mediates the targeting of secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum; however, RN7SL411P itself is **not expressed as a functional RNA and does not participate in SRP activity**. Instead, it is one of the numerous 7SL RNA-like sequences found throughout the human genome that arose through the integration of reverse-transcribed 7SL RNA, and it is **not known to have any biological role or therapeutic potential**.
