RN7SL420P is a pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA gene, which encodes the RNA scaffold of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex involved in protein translocation in the endoplasmic reticulum[1][3][4]. 7SL RNA itself is a highly conserved structural RNA essential for SRP function[4]; however, RN7SL420P represents a non-functional, truncated, and genomically integrated copy that does not produce SRP RNA or participate in cellular protein translocation[5]. Pseudogenes such as RN7SL420P are generated by the reverse transcription of functional RNA back into DNA, resulting in sequences that are generally not expressed or biologically active in human cells[5]. RN7SL420P is not a protein-coding gene, not a receptor, and has no evidence of clinical, biomarker, or disease-related function.
