RN7SL422P is a pseudogene derived from the human 7SL RNA gene, which ordinarily encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) vital for protein translocation in the endoplasmic reticulum[1][5][7][11]. However, the "422" pseudogene variant is not functional—it does not produce the 7SL RNA and thus is not involved in SRP formation or protein synthesis[1][11]. The vast majority of 7SL pseudogenes are nonfunctional remnants generated by reverse transcription and integration events in the genome[8][9][11]. While some pseudogenes may exert regulatory effects through RNA interference or miRNA binding, there is no direct evidence for such a role in RN7SL422P specifically[2][6]. RN7SL422P should not be considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or therapeutic target[1][8][11].
