RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 429, pseudogene (RN7SL429P) is a human pseudogene classified as a non-coding RNA. It is a truncated, non-functional homolog of the 7SL RNA, which itself is a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex essential for protein translocation across the endoplasmic reticulum membrane[1][3][6][9]. The 7SL pseudogenes, such as RN7SL429P, are generated by the reverse transcription of 7SL RNA into genomic DNA, but do not encode functional products and typically lack biological activity[3][4][6]. Unlike authentic 7SL RNA genes, most of these pseudogenes are not expressed or are expressed at very low levels and do not participate directly in cellular processes[1][9]. While there is growing recognition that some pseudogenes may play regulatory roles through RNA-mediated mechanisms—such as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) that can modulate the availability of microRNAs to parental genes—there is no evidence that RN7SL429P itself carries any such function or is involved in disease processes[2][4][9]. RN7SL429P is not a recognized therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or drug-interacting protein.
