Overview

RN7SL432P is a human pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA, a small cytoplasmic RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[1]. The canonical 7SL RNA plays a critical role in protein translocation by mediating the SRP complex, which regulates the targeting of secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[3][5]. Unlike functional 7SL RNA genes, RN7SL432P and similar pseudogenes are generally truncated, non-coding copies inserted into the human genome through reverse transcription of RNA, but lack the ability to produce functional products[7]. There are hundreds of 7SL-like pseudogenes scattered throughout the human genome; these are considered molecular fossils and typically have no direct biological or clinical function[7]. While a handful of pseudogenes from other families have been implicated in disease via noncoding RNA regulatory mechanisms, there is no evidence that RN7SL432P has such a function[4][5][7]. RN7SL432P should not be considered a therapeutic target, receptor, or relevant drug-interaction locus.
