Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 441, pseudogene (RN7SL441P) is a member of a large family of 7SL RNA-derived pseudogenes scattered throughout the human genome. These sequences are truncated, non-functional copies that originated through a process called retrotransposition, where the mature 7SL RNA is reverse transcribed and reintegrated into the genome[5][6]. While the functional homolog—7SL RNA (RN7SL1)—serves as an essential part of the ribonucleoprotein signal recognition particle (SRP) involved in co-translational targeting and protein translocation across membranes[3][4], the pseudogenes do not retain the ability to participate in these processes. Current research does not support a biological function for RN7SL441P in health or disease, nor is it used as a biomarker, drug target, or associated with any safety or therapeutic concerns. Summary of status: - RN7SL441P is a non-coding RNA pseudogene, not a therapeutic target, functional protein, or biomarker. - Most information in biomedical databases refers to its sequence and origin, not a functional role[5][6]. - The parent gene (functional 7SL RNA) has proven biomedical relevance, but this is not transferrable to RN7SL441P.

02

Mechanism of action

None; not a drug target.

03

Biological functions

None known; pseudogenes are generally considered non-functional remnants in the genome
04

Disease associations

Other (pseudogenes usually have no direct disease association; the parent gene, functional 7SL RNA, has indirect roles in cancer and neuroinflammation[3], but there is no evidence this pseudogene is involved)
05

Safety considerations

None; not used therapeutically or diagnostically.
06

Interacting drugs

None known; pseudogenes are not drug targets.
07

Biomarkers

None known.
