Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 445, pseudogene (RN7SL445P) is a pseudogene, which is a nonfunctional segment of DNA that resembles the sequence of a functional gene, in this case the 7SL RNA gene, a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[1][6][7]. Pseudogenes like RN7SL445P are typically generated by reverse transcription of RNA into DNA and integration into the genome; they do not produce functional transcripts or proteins[6][8][9]. RN7SL445P is one of many such 7SL-like pseudogenes dispersed throughout the human genome. These pseudogenes are generally regarded as genomic fossils with no physiological role[8][9]. There are rare cases where certain pseudogenes can regulate gene expression through sequence similarity with their parent gene or by acting as miRNA sponges (ceRNAs)[2], but no evidence indicates any such function for RN7SL445P specifically[1]. This pseudogene is **not an enzyme, receptor, transporter, or other therapeutic target**, nor is it associated with any disease or targeted by any drug.

Biological functions

None (non-functional, does not produce a functional product)

Disease associations

None established for RN7SL445PFor pseudogenes generally: can act as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or miRNA decoys and sometimes influence disease via regulation of parental gene expression
