Target intelligence / Profile preview
RN7SL454P (RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 454, pseudogene) is a human pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA gene. The 7SL RNA is an important component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein complex that mediates the targeting of secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum during translation. However, RN7SL454P represents a truncated, nonfunctional copy that does not produce a functional RNA or protein product. Pseudogenes of 7SL RNA are dispersed throughout the human genome and arise via retrotransposition; most are not transcribed to detectable levels and have no established physiological role. RN7SL454P is therefore not considered a druggable target, does not participate in known biological pathways, and lacks described disease or therapeutic relevance. If searching for therapeutic targets, the appropriate entity would be the functional 7SL RNA or proteins of the signal recognition particle (SRP), not RN7SL454P. Pseudogenes such as RN7SL454P are annotated based on sequence similarity but typically lack physiologic, biomarker, or pharmacologic utility.
Not applicable (no direct mechanism; pseudogenes are not therapeutic targets).
