Target intelligence / Profile preview
RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 455, pseudogene (RN7SL455P) is a pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA, which is the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein complex that mediates protein targeting to cellular membranes. The human genome contains hundreds of dispersed 7SL RNA-related sequences; only a few are functional genes, while the majority, including RN7SL455P, are pseudogenes generated by reverse transcription and insertion of the 7SL RNA sequence into the genome. These pseudogenes are typically truncated and are not expressed. RN7SL455P does not encode a functional product and is not known to serve any specific biological or disease-related role.
