Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 468, pseudogene (RN7SL468P), is a non-coding RNA locus classified as a pseudogene in the human genome[11][9]. It is related to the functional 7SL RNA gene, which provides the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex—a ribonucleoprotein involved in the co-translational targeting of proteins to membranes[1]. Unlike the functional 7SL RNA gene, RN7SL468P does not produce a functional RNA molecule or protein[11][3][5]. Pseudogenes such as RN7SL468P largely arise from reverse transcription and reintegration of RNA sequences and accumulate mutations or truncations that preclude functional expression[3][5]. Although some pseudogenes can have regulatory impact by producing antisense RNA transcripts that modulate gene expression or participate in small interfering RNA (siRNA) pathways in various contexts, there is no evidence of such regulatory function specific to RN7SL468P[6][8][11]. In summary, RN7SL468P is a well-characterized pseudogene, not a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target, and serves no established molecular or disease-related role[11][9][3][5].
