Overview

RN7SL47P is a human processed pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[4][5]. Unlike the canonical 7SL RNA gene, RN7SL47P has mutations that render it non-functional and it does not contribute to the assembly or function of the SRP complex. Pseudogenes of this type are generated by retrotransposition events and are prevalent in the human genome. While some pseudogenes may regulate gene expression by acting as competing endogenous RNAs or serving other non-coding RNA regulatory roles, there is no current evidence supporting such functional activity for RN7SL47P specifically[4][5]. It is annotated in genomic databases but is not recognized as a therapeutic drug target or biomarker.
