RN7SL470P is a human pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA gene, which originally codes for the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[1][3][4][7]. The authentic 7SL RNA is an essential noncoding RNA that facilitates the translation and targeting of secretory and membrane proteins within the cell by being part of the SRP ribonucleoprotein complex[5][9]. Pseudogenes like RN7SL470P are typically truncated, non-functional copies resulting from reverse transcription and integration events. Most 7SL RNA pseudogenes are not expressed at the protein or RNA level and do not participate in known biological processes or diseases[3][7]. However, some pseudogenes in general—though not specifically RN7SL470P—have been implicated in gene regulation through RNA interference or microRNA buffering mechanisms[6]. RN7SL470P does not belong to any major target class for therapeutics (e.g., receptor, enzyme) and does not have a recognized physiological, pathological, or pharmacological role. Its presence is mainly a genomic relic, a byproduct of evolutionary events, and it serves primarily in research contexts as a marker of pseudogene diversity within the human genome[3][4][7].
