Overview

RN7SL530P is a truncated, non-functional pseudogene homologous to the 7SL RNA gene, the latter of which encodes the RNA structural core of the signal recognition particle (SRP) involved in protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum. This pseudogene belongs to a large family of 7SL pseudogenes dispersed throughout the human genome, generated by reverse transcription and insertion of 7SL RNA sequences. Unlike the parent gene, RN7SL530P does not produce a functional RNA component and is not considered a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target. The majority of 7SL pseudogenes have no known biological activity, though in rare instances some pseudogenes can contribute to regulatory non-coding RNAs, but there is no evidence RN7SL530P has such a function. Summary: - This gene is best described as a pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA sequence; it does not encode a functional product nor play a role in signaling, transport, or enzyme activity. - It is not implicated as a therapeutic target, nor is it associated with disease processes, drug action, or biomarker roles. - As a pseudogene, it is not a protein-coding gene and should not be treated as a target for therapeutics, diagnostics, or basic functional research.

Biological functions

Other (no known biological function; as a pseudogene, typically non-functional though some pseudogenes may have regulatory roles in exceptional cases)
03

Disease associations

Other (no established roles in disease; the parent 7SL RNA gene has biological importance, but this pseudogene is not implicated in disease)
