RN7SL531P is a pseudogene corresponding to the 7SL RNA family, located in the human genome. Unlike the functional 7SL RNA (RN7SL1), which is an essential component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex involved in targeting newly synthesized proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum, RN7SL531P does not encode a functional RNA molecule, nor does it participate in known biological or disease processes. Its designation as a pseudogene means it arose via duplication or retrotransposition events and has lost function due to accumulated mutations. There are many such pseudogenes throughout the genome, and most do not produce active RNA or protein products nor serve as therapeutic targets.
