Overview

**RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 545, pseudogene (RN7SL545P)** is a human pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA gene, which is an essential component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) involved in the targeting and translocation of proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum. However, RN7SL545P is a non-functional, non-coding segment of genomic DNA that does not produce functional RNA or protein. Human DNA contains hundreds of 7SL RNA-like sequences, most of which are pseudogenes, and these are typically inactive due to truncations or sequence mutations resulting from retrotransposition. There is currently no evidence that RN7SL545P functions as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or has clinically validated disease associations. Its biological role is thus limited to that of a processed pseudogene, although pseudogenes in general may occasionally act as competitive endogenous RNAs or have post-transcriptional regulatory effects, but such functions have not been described specifically for RN7SL545P[1][4][7][8][9].
