Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 546, pseudogene (RN7SL546P) is a human pseudogene that resembles the gene for 7SL RNA, a key structural component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) involved in targeting proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[3][5][7]. The 7SL pseudogene family is large in humans, with hundreds of similar loci dispersed in the genome, most of which are truncated and nonfunctional copies generated by retrotransposition of 7SL RNA[5][7]. Pseudogenes like RN7SL546P do not produce functional RNAs and are not expressed as part of the SRP complex, nor do they encode proteins[5][7][8]. While some pseudogenes can possess rare regulatory functions via RNA interference or epigenetic mechanisms, there is no evidence or functional annotation for RN7SL546P having such activity[2][4]. As a non-coding pseudogene, it is not considered a therapeutic target, biomarker, or disease gene, and there are no known drugs, clinical implications, or safety issues associated with it.
