RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 549, pseudogene (RN7SL549P) is a member of the 7SL RNA pseudogene family dispersed throughout the human genome[6][1][7]. It represents a non-coding, non-functional copy of the RNA gene encoding the 7SL RNA, which is a key structural and functional component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein involved in targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[5][8][6]. Unlike the functional 7SL RNA gene, RN7SL549P is not known to be transcribed into functional RNA or have an active biological role. Pseudogenes such as RN7SL549P generally arise from reverse transcription and genomic integration of RNA molecules, often resulting in truncated or divergent non-coding sequences[7]. There is no established role for RN7SL549P in health or disease, no identified drug interactions, and it is not considered a therapeutic target[1][6][7].
