Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 558, pseudogene (RN7SL558P) is a processed pseudogene, meaning it is a non-functional segment of DNA with high sequence similarity to the gene encoding 7SL RNA, but has lost its ability to produce a functional RNA product. Pseudogenes such as RN7SL558P are typically generated by reverse transcription of their parental RNA and reintegration into the genome, followed by the accumulation of disabling mutations[2][4]. The functional RN7SL1 gene encodes the 7SL RNA, an essential component of the Signal Recognition Particle (SRP), which mediates targeting of secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotes[3][5]. However, the pseudogene itself (RN7SL558P) does not produce a functional RNA and is not implicated in known biological pathways, disease mechanisms, or drug interactions[1][2][4]. Note: - RN7SL558P is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other molecular target category relevant for drug discovery, and has no described biological function or disease role as a pseudogene. - It should not be confused with functional 7SL RNA or the Signal Recognition Particle RNA, which are biologically essential[3][5]. - No drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns are associated with RN7SL558P pseudogene.
