RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 58, pseudogene (RN7SL58P) is a non-protein coding RNA sequence classified as a pseudogene, derived from the parental functional 7SL RNA gene that is a critical component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex. Unlike functional 7SL RNAs, which are central to SRP-mediated protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum, RN7SL58P does not encode an active transcript for canonical SRP function. While some pseudogenes have regulatory impacts through RNA-mediated mechanisms, no specific biological functions, disease implications, or drug interactions have been characterized for RN7SL58P itself. Pseudogenes generally can influence gene expression by acting as competitive endogenous RNAs or miRNA sponges, but specific evidence for RN7SL58P is lacking.
