RN7SL594P is a pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA, an integral RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) ribonucleoprotein complex. The canonical 7SL RNA functions in targeting secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum but RN7SL594P is a non-functional, truncated copy inserted into the genome by reverse transcription. It does not encode a functional protein or participate directly in known biological pathways but may be transcribed in some tissues, potentially exerting regulatory effects such as acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) or miRNA sponge, as observed for some transcribed pseudogenes. There is no known association between RN7SL594P and any human disease, nor any drugs or therapies targeting it. The vast majority of 7SL-related loci in the human genome are pseudogenes; only a few encode bona fide functional RNAs. Functionally, the pseudogene may have minor regulatory effects by titrating miRNAs in a tissue-specific manner, but such roles are general and not attributed specifically to RN7SL594P. RN7SL594P does not encode any of the SRP proteins or contribute to the canonical SRP function. There is no evidence for pharmacological intervention or drug development targeting this pseudogene.
