RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 614, pseudogene (RN7SL614P) is a truncated, non-functional copy of the 7SL RNA gene, present in the human genome as a result of reverse transcription events and is classified as a pseudogene rather than a protein-coding gene or functional non-coding RNA[1][4]. Pseudogenes like RN7SL614P do not produce functional RNA molecules and are not considered drug targets, nor do they have established roles in normal biology or disease. The canonical 7SL RNA, however, is the RNA component of the Signal Recognition Particle (SRP), a key ribonucleoprotein complex that directs nascent proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum during translation[2][3]. Variants and processed fragments of canonical 7SL RNA are implicated in translational regulation and viral RNA packaging, but pseudogenes like RN7SL614P are generally not expressed and lack biological or clinical significance[1][4].
