Overview

**RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 616, pseudogene** (RN7SL616P) is a human pseudogene belonging to the family of 7SL RNA-related sequences. 7SL RNA is normally the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), which plays essential roles in targeting proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, but RN7SL616P itself is a non-coding, probable processed pseudogene that does not encode a functional RNA or protein. The human genome contains hundreds of similar 7SL RNA-derived pseudogenes—these are truncated, nonfunctional sequences resulting from reverse transcription and genomic insertion of 7SL RNA[7][9]. As a pseudogene, RN7SL616P is not believed to participate directly in canonical biological signaling or disease pathways, nor is it a therapeutic target. Some pseudogenes have been shown to regulate gene expression through production of antisense transcripts or small interfering RNAs, but no specific regulatory or disease role has been reported for RN7SL616P[4][6][10].

02

Biological functions

May have regulatory RNA functions (e.g., acting as competitive endogenous RNA or antisense RNA), but not established for this specific pseudogene[4][6][10]
03

Disease associations

No specific disease associations are established for RN7SL616P; some pseudogenes can regulate parental gene expression and participate in disease mechanisms, but no evidence is available for this pseudogene[4][10][13]
