Target
RN7SL646P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA derivative
01

Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 646, pseudogene (RN7SL646P) is one of hundreds of human 7SL RNA-derived pseudogenes, which are genome-inserted copies of 7SL RNA formed by reverse transcription and integration. The original 7SL RNA is a crucial non-coding RNA component of the signal recognition particle, mediating the cotranslational translocation of proteins across membranes. Pseudogenes like RN7SL646P are generally thought to be non-functional remnants, though some pseudogenes have been shown to have regulatory roles in gene expression, such as acting as miRNA sponges or participating in epigenetic mechanisms. However, there is no evidence that RN7SL646P specifically is involved in any biological processes, disease, or therapeutic interactions.
