RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 65, pseudogene (RN7SL65P) is a human pseudogene that corresponds to a non-coding copy of the 7SL RNA gene. The functional 7SL RNA is a structural RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), which is involved in targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum. However, as a pseudogene, RN7SL65P does not encode a functional RNA or protein and is generally considered non-functional. Pseudogenes may sometimes regulate their parental gene or other targets through RNA-mediated mechanisms, such as acting as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or generating small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), but no such functions have been identified or confirmed for RN7SL65P.
