Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 650, pseudogene (RN7SL650P) is a human pseudogene related to the functional 7SL RNA, which forms the RNA component of the signal recognition particle. The 7SL RNA plays an essential role in protein targeting via the SRP complex[3][5]. However, as a pseudogene, RN7SL650P does not encode a functional RNA or protein, and is generally considered noncoding. Pseudogenes are processed or nonprocessed genomic elements that have lost their protein-coding function through evolutionary events but can sometimes influence cellular processes indirectly, such as miRNA regulation or acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs). There is no evidence that RN7SL650P itself plays a major role in human disease, nor is it a recognized target in drug development, receptor biology, or as a clinical biomarker. Its primary scientific relevance is as a member of a genomic family of 7SL RNA-related pseudogenes, some of which may participate in regulatory activities at the RNA level, though specific functions for RN7SL650P have not been established[1][3][6][7].
