Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 652, pseudogene (RN7SL652P) is one of many 7SL RNA-derived sequences in the human genome which are classified as pseudogenes. These are truncated, non-functional copies of the original 7SL RNA gene, and arise via processes such as retrotransposition where the mature 7SL RNA is reverse-transcribed and inserted into genomic DNA[4][5][7]. Unlike the authentic 7SL RNA gene, which encodes the RNA component of the SRP ribonucleoprotein complex that mediates protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum and other membranes[3], RN7SL652P has lost the capacity to produce a functional product. Most human 7SL-related sequences are pseudogenes and do not contribute to biological processes or disease; they are not relevant as therapeutic, diagnostic, or prognostic targets[1][4][5][6][7]. - This entry is a pseudogene rather than a genuine, functional molecular target or receptor. It is not involved in any known signaling, enzymatic, transport, or receptor function, and is not considered a valid drug target or biomarker[1][4][5][7]. - If a therapeutic or biological target is required, use the canonical gene for human 7SL RNA (e.g., RN7SL or RN7SL2) rather than any of its numerous pseudogene derivatives[6]. - The entry is not misspelled, but may be misleading if intended as a therapeutic target. Its pseudogene status makes it incorrect for most drug discovery purposes.
