Unlike the functional 7SL RNA, which is critical for SRP-mediated protein targeting to membranes, these pseudogenes do not encode active RNA or protein products and are not involved in cell signaling or disease. The majority of 7SL pseudogenes are evolutionary byproducts with no established biological or clinical significance[1][6].
