RN7SL656P is a human pseudogene classified as a noncoding RNA, specifically a truncated and likely nonfunctional copy of the 7SL RNA gene—the RNA component of the signal recognition particle. Unlike the functional 7SL RNA, which is essential for targeting proteins to cellular membranes, RN7SL656P does not encode a protein or functional RNA, is not expressed, and does not participate in cellular pathways or disease processes. The majority of 7SL-family sequences in the human genome are pseudogenes generated by reverse transcription and reintegration, and RN7SL656P is one such example.
