Overview

RN7SL667P is a processed pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA gene family, which normally encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein crucial for cotranslational targeting of secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum. However, this particular locus, as with most 7SL RNA pseudogenes, does not produce a functional RNA and is not expressed or involved in any known biological process. 7SL RNA pseudogenes commonly arise from the reverse transcription of the 7SL RNA and subsequent integration into the genome, lacking the necessary regulatory elements for transcription and function. RN7SL667P has no reported role as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or therapeutic target and is best classified as a non-functional genomic element.
