Overview

RN7SL674P (RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 674, pseudogene) is a member of the family of 7SL-related pseudogenes found dispersed throughout the human genome[1][3][4][5][7][8]. It is classified as a pseudogene, specifically originating from retrotransposition events involving the 7SL RNA, the RNA component of the signal recognition particle. Pseudogenes in this family do not encode functional proteins and are typically not transcribed at appreciable levels or involved directly in cellular biological processes. The 7SL RNA itself is essential for targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum, but RN7SL674P as a pseudogene does not contribute to these processes[8]. There is no evidence that RN7SL674P acts as a therapeutic target, participates in signal transduction, or serves as a biomarker. Pseudogenes in general can occasionally influence gene expression through regulatory RNA functions, but there is no data supporting this function for RN7SL674P specifically[6].
