Overview

RN7SL675P (“RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 675, pseudogene”) is a pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA gene family, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein complex essential for targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[5][4]. In humans, while a few RN7SL genes are functional and have important roles in protein translocation and cellular signaling, the vast majority—including RN7SL675P—are non-functional genomic copies (pseudogenes) that do not produce RNA or functional product[4][5]. Pseudogenes of 7SL RNA are numerous, generated via reverse transcription and integration of 7SL RNA-derived sequences into the genome. These loci generally have no known regulatory, structural, or direct therapeutic target role; rather, they are markers of genomic evolution and activity of retrotransposition[4][5].
