RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 69, pseudogene (RN7SL69P)

Target
RN7SL69P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA
01

Overview

RN7SL69P is a pseudogene that is highly homologous to the functional 7SL RNA gene, which encodes a non-coding RNA component of the cytoplasmic Signal Recognition Particle (SRP). Unlike its parent functional gene, RN7SL69P does not produce protein and is not known to encode a functional RNA product[1][4][6]. Pseudogenes of 7SL RNA are derived from reverse transcription and genomic insertion of 7SL RNA cDNA and often accumulate mutations or truncations that render them transcriptionally inactive or non-functional[5]. While some pseudogenes in general may exert regulatory functions via noncoding RNAs or as microRNA decoys[2], there is no evidence that RN7SL69P has such biological utility. Its relevance to therapeutics, disease biology, drug interaction, or biomarker development is negligible.
