Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 714, pseudogene (RN7SL714P) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 14 (14q32.2), annotated in the genome but does not code for a functional RNA or protein product[1][2][6]. It is a member of the large family of 7SL RNA-related sequences, specifically a pseudogene copy of the functional 7SL RNA gene (also known as SRP RNA), which is essential for protein targeting in the cell[7]. However, as a pseudogene, RN7SL714P is generally thought to lack biological activity and is not responsible for canonical 7SL ribonucleoprotein function such as mediating protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum[3][5][7]. Some pseudogenes may have roles as competitive endogenous RNAs or in other regulatory mechanisms, but there is no evidence in the literature or genomic databases to suggest that RN7SL714P has such a function[4]. It is not considered a therapeutic target or a biomarker, and there are no drugs known to interact with it.
