RN7SL718P is a pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA gene, which forms part of the signal recognition particle (SRP) ribonucleoprotein complex, important in the targeting of secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotic cells[1][4][5][7]. As a pseudogene, RN7SL718P is a nonfunctional segment of DNA that originated as a copy of functional 7SL RNA through retrotransposition or related mechanisms, but has lost the ability to yield a functional RNA or protein product[6][5]. Most human 7SL-like sequences are pseudogenes, and RN7SL718P is not transcribed into a biologically active RNA or involved directly in signal transduction, disease, or as a therapeutic target[4][5][7]. Pseudogenes can sometimes be transcribed or have minor roles such as miRNA sponging or involvement in genomic regulation, but there is no dataset suggesting RN7SL718P has any such function[2][5]. RN7SL718P is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any typical therapeutic target class.
