RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 722, pseudogene (RN7SL722P) is a pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP). Pseudogenes are nonfunctional segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but generally do not encode functional products[2][1][6][7]. The majority of 7SL-like sequences in the human genome are pseudogenes derived from the reverse transcription of 7SL RNA back into genomic DNA[6][7]. These pseudogenes, including RN7SL722P, are considered "junk" DNA and are typically not expressed or biologically active. There is no indication that RN7SL722P has any known biological function, disease association, or therapeutic relevance; it is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor[1][2][4][6][7].
