RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 728, pseudogene (RN7SL728P) is a human pseudogene that is a non-functional, processed copy of the 7SL cytoplasmic RNA gene[1][4]. The authentic 7SL RNA is the essential RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), which mediates the targeting of secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[3][5]. Pseudogenes like RN7SL728P generally do not encode functional RNAs or proteins; however, growing evidence suggests that some pseudogenes can exert regulatory effects, such as serving as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), producing antisense transcripts, or acting as miRNA decoys, thereby modulating the expression of parental or related genes[2][4]. There is currently no evidence that RN7SL728P itself is a therapeutic target, interacts with drugs, serves as a clinical biomarker, or has a direct pathological or physiological role. It is included in genome annotations mainly as a relic of gene duplication and retrotransposition events.
