RN7SL731P is a processed pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA gene, which is an integral component of the human signal recognition particle (SRP) used in co-translational protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum. Pseudogenes such as RN7SL731P result from retrotransposition of functional RNAs back into the genome, but lose the capacity to be transcribed or translated into active products. The majority of 7SL-like sequences in the human genome are non-functional pseudogenes, with only a small subset encoding authentic SRP RNAs. Processed pseudogenes are typically "dead on arrival," lacking regulatory elements needed for proper expression and accumulating mutations that prevent functional output. RN7SL731P is not expressed as functional RNA and does not participate in known signaling, regulatory, or pathogenic processes. In summary, RN7SL731P is a non-coding, non-functional genomic sequence with no known biological, therapeutic, or biomarker use.
