Overview

RN7SL736P is a pseudogene that resembles the human 7SL RNA gene, a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex, but is nonfunctional[6][4]. It is thought to have arisen by reverse transcription of the 7SL RNA and insertion into the genome, resulting in a sequence that cannot produce functional SRP RNA or protein[1][6][4]. While the canonical 7SL RNA plays critical roles in co-translational protein targeting and stress response[3][5], the RN7SL736P pseudogene itself is not expressed at detectable levels and does not participate in these processes[1][6]. Pseudogenes such as RN7SL736P may occasionally be transcribed, but these transcripts generally lack functional significance. Misidentification or amplification of pseudogenes can complicate genetic studies, but RN7SL736P is not recognized as a therapeutic target or biomarker[4][6].
