RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 738, pseudogene (RN7SL738P) is a human pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA gene, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[1][5]. The vast majority of 7SL-related sequences in the human genome, including RN7SL738P, are pseudogenes resulting from the reverse transcription of 7SL RNA into genomic DNA[5][3]. These pseudogenes are typically nonfunctional, lack protein-coding potential, and do not participate in the canonical functions of 7SL RNA or SRP. As with other pseudogenes, there is no evidence that RN7SL738P is a therapeutic target, nor is it known to play a role in disease, act as a biomarker, or interact with drugs. Its main significance is as a remnant of evolutionary processes involving retrotransposition and gene duplication[6][3].
