Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 767, pseudogene (RN7SL767P) is classified as a pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA, a non-coding RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP). The authentic 7SL RNA plays a central role in targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum, but RN7SL767P is a truncated, inactive copy resulting from the integration of sequences derived from 7SL RNA back into the genome via reverse transcription. Human genome contains hundreds of similar 7SL RNA-related pseudogenes and Alu elements; only a few encode functional 7SL RNA, while the rest, like RN7SL767P, are not known to be transcribed or to produce any functional RNA or protein product. There is no evidence that this specific pseudogene is involved in disease, functional biological regulation, or that it interacts with drugs. Its presence mainly reflects genomic evolutionary history and the widespread retrotransposition events associated with the 7SL RNA family.

03

Biological functions

None known (pseudogene; lacks known functional expression)Pseudogenes in this family may sometimes act as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or regulators at the RNA level, but this is not described for this specific locus
04

Disease associations

None establishedNo known direct disease association for this locus; functional 7SL/Alu elements and other 7SL pseudogenes may contribute to genomic instability on a broader scale, but not this specific gene
05

Safety considerations

None known (not a drug target; no clinical relevance identified)
