RN7SL77P (RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 77, pseudogene) is a pseudogene of the 7SL RNA, which is a non-coding RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex. Pseudogenes like RN7SL77P are DNA sequences that resemble functional genes but are generally considered nonfunctional; they lack protein-coding capacity or known biological activity and often result from duplication or retrotransposition events[6][7][9]. While functional 7SL RNA (encoded by genes such as RN7SL1) plays an essential architectural and enzymatic role in the SRP during protein translocation[1][3][8], the pseudogene RN7SL77P does not contribute to these activities. Most 7SL RNA pseudogenes are truncated, non-expressed, and not known to act as therapeutic targets, biomarkers, or to be directly involved in human disease; however, some pseudogenes in general can act as regulatory elements at the RNA level, but there are no specific functions, disease associations, or drug interactions known for RN7SL77P[4][5][7][9].
