Overview

**RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 784, pseudogene (RN7SL784P)** is a human pseudogene located in the genome but does not encode a functional protein and is not known to be transcribed to a functional RNA[1][3][6][8]. Pseudogenes like RN7SL784P are typically “genomic fossils” derived from once-functional genes, in this case, related to the 7SL RNA that forms the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex[7][9]. The SRP is essential for directing newly synthesized proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum, but RN7SL784P itself does not encode a functional SRP RNA, nor is it considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or known disease-causing factor[1][6][8][9]. Current literature does not ascribe a functional, diagnostic, or therapeutic role to RN7SL784P; it represents a family of “processed pseudogenes”—truncated, noncoding DNA sequences that arose from reverse transcription of ancestral 7SL RNA genes and subsequent genomic insertion. Most 7SL pseudogenes, including RN7SL784P, are not expressed and are not implicated in human pathology or therapy[1][3][5][9].
