RN7SL786P is a human pseudogene formed by the genomic integration of reverse transcribed RNA from the 7SL RNA gene. The 7SL RNA encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein responsible for targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[5][10]. Unlike functional 7SL RNA (e.g., RN7SL1), RN7SL786P is truncated and non-expressed due to sequence changes and lacks any protein-coding function[5][7][8]. Most 7SL pseudogenes appear to derive from various retrotransposition events and do not contribute to protein synthesis, receptor signaling, or transport processes. Though some pseudogenes can play regulatory roles, the available evidence indicates RN7SL786P is a non-functional element[4][5][8]. RN7SL786P is not a receptor, transporter, enzyme, or classical therapeutic target—rather, it is a pseudogene found in humans. There is nothing to suggest it is a valid drug target or that it plays a direct role in human disease or therapy[1][6][8].
