RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 792, pseudogene (RN7SL792P) is a member of the large family of 7SL RNA pseudogenes found in the human genome[6][7]. The functional gene for 7SL RNA encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein essential for targeting secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotic cells[1][3]. However, RN7SL792P represents a pseudogene, meaning it is a DNA sequence similar to the 7SL RNA gene but rendered non-functional due to sequence truncation or disruption, and it likely does not produce a stable or functional RNA product[6][7]. These 7SL pseudogenes are numerous in the human genome, arising from the retroposition of the 7SL RNA transcript back into DNA, and typically do not encode for any proteins or have canonical biological activity[7][3]. While rare examples exist of pseudogene transcription yielding regulatory small RNAs or siRNAs, there is no evidence that RN7SL792P is involved in such pathways or has any therapeutic relevance[8]. It is not considered a therapeutic target and lacks recognized roles as a biomarker, drug target, or therapeutic concern. RN7SL792P is a non-protein-coding pseudogene, not considered a therapeutic target, and does not have a direct role in human disease, signaling, or approved drug interactions. Its main biological significance is as a genomic relic of the functionally important 7SL RNA gene, which is central to SRP-mediated protein sorting[6][1][3][7].
