Target intelligence / Profile preview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 793, pseudogene (RN7SL793P)

Target
RN7SL793P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA (derived from 7SL RNA family)
01

Overview

RN7SL793P is a human pseudogene corresponding to 7SL RNA, which is a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein complex essential for directing newly synthesized proteins to cellular membranes. Most 7SL RNA pseudogenes, including RN7SL793P, are non-functional and represent genomic copies that arose from the reverse transcription and integration of RNA into DNA, often being truncated and having structural diversity. They are generally not transcribed or translated; if transcribed, their RNA products do not have the canonical functions of their parent gene. RN7SL793P is therefore not considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or therapeutic target; it serves primarily as a genomic relic without established direct biological or disease relevance.

Biological functions

No direct biological function (as a pseudogene)Original functional 7SL RNA is involved in protein targeting within the cell (signal recognition particle)
03

Disease associations

None specifically attributable to RN7SL793PPseudogenes in general may play indirect regulatory roles or act as competing endogenous RNAs, but no evidence for roles for RN7SL793P itself
