RN7SL794P is a human pseudogene derived from 7SL RNA, which is the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP). While functional 7SL RNA is essential for the co-translational translocation of proteins across the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, RN7SL794P does not produce a functional RNA or protein. It is one of hundreds of 7SL RNA-like pseudogene sequences scattered throughout the human genome, likely generated by retrotransposition. These pseudogenes are truncated and generally not expressed or functional. No evidence indicates that RN7SL794P has a biological, disease, or therapeutic role.
